Christmas 2016

It's that festive time of the year, spending time with family & friends will soon be here. I also look forward to a bit of selfish sewing between Christmas & New Year.  I love those days when you don't even know what time it is as you've been lost in a project. Normally you know about it when people need feeding 😀

The shop is looking lovely with lots of tempting gifts in the window. I also have gift vouchers available. I love decorating the window & my home too. I managed to have a Crafternoon with family the other Sunday. We sat & ate chilli then made some Christmas decorations. It was so nice to get together & be creative. These winter months are the perfect excuse too.

Louth Christmas Market - Sunday 27th November

I love Christmas :) there's nothing like visiting your local Christmas Market to get you in the festive mood. This year the Louth Independent Traders have organised the biggest Santa Clause you may have ever seen. The event is on Sunday 27th November 10am - 4pm.

There's plenty going on during the day, you can also make your own Christmas Bunting in my little shop. It's really easy too :) Everything will be provided. Please ring 01507 201131 or email me to book on (thelittlefabricstore@gmail.com) sessions are 10.30-11.30am & 12.30pm-1.30pm. £4 each.

I made my Christmas Bunting on Christmas Eve last year. We've had the same Christmas Lights hanging on our chimney breast for years and we couldn't find them anywhere!!! So I made these joyful things :)

The Wedding

As promised here are few photos from my Son's Wedding. Brad & Beth got married in Ilam (Staffordshire) not far from Beth's hometown of Matlock (Derbyshire). It's such a beautiful spot in the world, the weather was perfect we couldn't have asked for a better day. Can you tell I'm the proud Mother of the Groom :) My daughter Lauren took all the photos, her photography site is linked. I'm so proud of her too. Anyway here are the photos:

The Victorian Fayre

The Victorian Fayre was held last Sunday. It was lovely to see people visiting Louth with family & friends, enjoying the day. The Louth Independent Traders organise these events, they're all local business owners who give up their time to organise and run these events. This is how much the independent shops care about Louth, working together to advertise and support each other, it's a great place to have a little fabric store.

- Victorian Helen, I could have been on Downton with this outfit:)
I bought this Vintage Apron at my last craft fair before opening my shop -

- My mum took these photos whilst walking around the stalls -

If there are any events in your area go along, support them
and you'll be sure to have a lovely day

New Shop Hours

Oo it's the Bank Holiday weekend coming up. What are your plans? I'm hoping to be in the garden, weather permitting, spending time with family & having a few creative hours to myself. I've had a lot of home renovations over the summer and things are still upside down. That sewing room is calling though, I really can't wait to have a creative space which I've warned my husband will be an "explosion of Helen"!!!

Due to the August Bank Holiday the Shop will be Closed on Tuesday 30th August and my new Shop hours will start on Wednesday 31st August. I'm opening half an hour earlier in the shop & the website is open all day, everyday.

The Little Fabric Store

Wednesday, Friday & Saturday
9am - 4pm
Closed Sunday & Monday
Shop on-line at

Summer for me is dressmaking. This Summer I've made two of Janet Clare's Artisan Apron's "wearing your creativity". The first is made in a Linen Denim, it's plain background gave me chance to play.

Janet's Artisan Apron Pattern
available in store & online
£9.99

My denim Apron decorated with bias binding, bunting & brooches
Made in a medium (denim linen on order)

This is my linen blend Apron lined with a plain cotton in orchid
Made in a size small (linen blend in store & online)

I've also added to the Compagnie M range in the shop and will be putting these on the website. I made the Lotta Skirt last year and got it out again this summer. This survived the bottom of my rucksack last year when I went interrailing in Europe. The fabric is a Moda and it washes brilliantly and doesn't crease. The design is something unique and has a European style about it.

The Lotta Skirt shown using the teenage & adult pattern
(also available in age 1-10yrs)
fabric no longer available

I hope you've all had & still having a fantastic summer. What have you been making this summer. Send in your photos to thelittlefabricstore@gmail.com I'd love to see your makes. Have a great Bank Holiday weekend - Helen -

This top made by Cereda is lovely. Using the ever popular WildWood Cloud 9, Cereda has used a plain to compliment the design.
