Thank you

The Little Fabric Store has been trading for 9 months now. I want to thank all my new customers at Louth and all my online customers and fans for their custom and support. I love the diversity of meeting people face to face, discussing projects and seeing their works in progress. To own a business that means I get to listen and discuss ideas and seeing people's colour selections, are an amazing part of my job. The online Community has also been a strength whilst not at my stall. I'm looking at expanding my business over the coming months and I hope you'll be part of that journey.

I ask anyone who buys fabric from me to send through photos of their finished makes. They're then added to the "Hall of Fame" page. We put so much thought, time and effort into our creative makes it's definitely worth celebrating.

Cath Kidston Quilt

I managed to finish my daughter's Quilt last week. The pattern was taken from  Sew! by Cath Kidston. This was one of the first books I bought and I'd definitely recommend it. It comes with all the fabric and accessories to make your own CK Bag. It also has some great templates.

I loved working on this Quilt. I used Tilda Fabric for the borders, flowers and hearts. The hearts and flowers are appliquéd onto squares with a border around the edges. I treated myself and bought some rare Antique Hand Woven Organic Plain Cotton Fabric from 1900. It was bought from Mariana's Linen Heaven - Etsy Shop. After washing the fabric it had a soft yet weighty feel to it. I will definitely be using the rest of this fabric in other Quilts. The hot pink border and baby blue backing are Moda's Essential Dots fabric bought from my little shop - The Little Fabric Store -

The Quilt brightens up the room. A very special Quilt for my very special Daughter.

There's nothing more rewarding than making a quilt for your family. Anyone who  has made one knows how much time and love goes into every one you make. I made this Quilt for my older son a couple of years ago and have made a few more since. It was made of shirts he'd grown out of and his baby clothes.

This pattern was take from another recommended book - A Passion for Quilting by Nicki Trench.  I was totally star struck when Nicki replied to my email showing her my finished Quilt. I'd only just started sewing and to get a reply from someone so talented was very inspiring. I've decided to comment and get more involved in the blogs a follow. I've been a silent blogger for a few years now so I thought this year I'd get out there and communicate with other fellow creative people.

I'd love to know what projects you're working on. And do send photos through of anything made with my fabrics and they'll be added to The Hall of Fame. Hope to hear from you soon - Helen -

Pom Pom Makers are back!!

These Clover Small Pom Pom Makers are so sweet, I love them. I also have the Large Pom Pom Makers available at my Etsy Shop and Louth Market on Saturday's. They're so easy to use, it makes Pom Pom Making fun and speedy. I had a flurry of orders before Christmas all thanks to Kirstie's Crafty Christmas. I've always believed in my trusty Pom Pom Maker and it's brilliant to know people now know about these time saving devices.

UFO's

Hello, I hope you've all had a good week. I've decided to finish of my UFO's (Un-finished Objects) before I start anything new this year. My Winters Lane Quilt is finally finished. I'm really happy with it. As you know I've loved this Collection and Bluebird Park both designed by Kate & Birdie.

This quilt pattern used half a Jelly Roll, I cut the 2 1/2 inch strips myself. I'm now looking for a pattern for a full Jelly Roll Quilt as I've just bought a 40 strip pack made by Moda by 3 Sisters - Vin du Jour - The colours have a homely cottage feel to them. I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

These can also be purchased from my Etsy Shop for £29.99

I finished my youngest son's American Quilt.

I made a Bow Tie and Pocket Square for my brother for Christmas. The Pattern was from Mollie Makes. I was so pleased he liked it. I also made his girlfriend a headband from this pattern, i just added the elastic at the back.

I now have my daughters Appliqué Quilt to finish before I start my Jelly Roll Quilt. Challenge accepted. What projects do you have unfinished and how long have you had them? I spoke to a lady in Louth, she has bags of hexagons ready to be stitched from the 1970's, wow. It made me think about my hexagons as they're mounting up and I want to use them. I stitched a large pin cushion last week and I'm going to make a Cat Quilt. Well she's feeling left out.

Happy New Year

Hello, I hope you all enjoyed Christmas and New Year. I had a lovely time with my Family and Friends. I also spent a lot of time looking at my Craft book stash and planning what projects I'd like to attempt in 2014. I still need to finish a few UFO's (Un-Finished Objects) before I start any new projects. I did managed to finish my son's American Quilt (photos to follow) on Christmas Eve at 11.30pm. It was so well received by him too.

New Fabrics have arrived to get you thinking about your New Year Projects. This Collection "Wren & Friends" is Designed by Gina Martin, Moda's Newest Designer. With it's "bright, graphic, whimsical patterns depicting birds, bird houses and garden flowers" this Collection was inspired by her Grandmother and Mother. Gina's website is well worth a visit.

Bundles will be available on my Etsy Shop soon. Metre lengths can be purchased on my stall or please contact me for delivery.

What did you make during the holiday's, send your photos through I'd love to hear from you. I made my sister a Lap Quilt for Christmas. I used the Boho Range. I loved using a colour pallet that I might not have chosen myself. It's great experimenting with new colours. The plus side, my sister and her twin boys love it.

Happy New Year - I'll be at Louth Market on Saturday 4th January - weather pending.
